| Our community at Village Christian Church is like a family. We are a small congregation doing big things. Our community also extends beyond our church family to the greater Auburn/Opelika area. We help those in need through local ministries and through the faithful service of members of our church family. Our church community also extends to include the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Disciples can be found in worshipping communities across the country and in outreach ministries around the world. Our unity comes at the Lord’s Table. Each week we gather at the Table to celebrate communion, remembering the love and grace offered by Christ. The invitation comes from Christ, and all who believe are welcome to participate. Village Christian Church practices baptism by immersion, but welcomes all Christians to unite in membership regardless of their method of baptism. Our freedom takes the shape of responsibility. Each person is encouraged to read and study scripture, face the challenges of their life as people of faith, and develop their own walk with Christ. Education and the free exchange of ideas and questions are central to Bible study and church life. We believe that every Christian is baptized into the ministry of Jesus Christ and must discover his or her own gifts and calling. At Village Christian Church we support each other in that journey of discovery. |
