Ministries
WORSHIP:
Services are held each Sunday at 11:00 a.m. They always include the Lord’s Supper to
which all are invited to participate. Anyone who wishes may volunteer to serve as the Lay
Leader for a particular Sunday. Services are also held on special occasions such as Ash
Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and Christmas Eve.
CHURCH MUSIC PROGRAM:
The choir meets at 5:30 pm each Wednesday, practicing and enjoying the fellowship of
singing (and laughing) together. They welcome as new members any adult or high
school aged young person.
Organist/Choir Director Jolene Reber is a
marvelous musician with outstanding keyboard
ability and the ability to help a small choir perform
a wide selection of music. She has served at
Village Christian Church for over 20 year, and has
been involved in church music for 40+ years.
CAMPUS MINISTRY:
Rev. Diane Wood hosts a weekly event for college students at her home. She is also the
Director of Young Adult Ministries with the Alabama-NW Florida District.
OUTREACH:
Worship and service to others go hand-in-hand. While the congregation supports
community organizations by conducting fund raisers, members are also active in the
community. About one-fourth of our active members volunteer at Community Market (a
food sharing program for those in need in Lee County). Others are involved on boards of
various community organizations, service clubs, and outreach arms. The minister and
Outreach Chair attend local meetings of Alabama ARISE to keep informed of issues
related to the “least of these.”

MEDITATION GARDEN:
Our Meditation Garden is open to the community. There are
perennial flowers and shrubs blooming almost all year. It is a
place of quiet in the midst of the city. People often come to
meditate, pray, or just enjoy the quiet. Benches are placed
along paths so you can sit and look at the flowers, birds, and
butterflies. A large Chartres-style labyrinth provides a special
place to walk and meditate.
There is a small worship area which is used for Easter
"Sonrise" Service, memorial services, and other occasions
when this outdoor setting is needed.
